Strength training is perfect if you wanna lose weight!

Strength training is indispensable if you want to lose weight permanently, and yet occasionally want to enjoy good food. For the benefits of strength training you don't necessarily need to go to the gym. Even at home you can do many exercises that help build muscle mass. But why is strength training perfect if you wanna lose weight?

Strength training will make sure that the body consumes more calories at rest. That means that one will have long-term benefits from strength training. One kilo of muscle mass will burn 100 calories every day. So without exercising, your body will consume more calories. With cardio sports like swimming and cycling you won't build much muscle mass. These exercises only burn calories during the exercise itself. With an hour of cardio exercise you burn more calories than with one hour strength training. However, if one looks at the total calorie burning, thus the calories accumulated muscles burn after the strength training, the strength training suddenly looks very appealing.

You don't have to be afraid that you will look very muscular if you decide to do some strength training. Strength training will just lead to a nice shaped body. You will grow muscle mass and these muscles will be more visible because of the higher amount of fat burning in the body. To look muscular, you will have to train a lot heavier and take protein shakes. It is important to eat enough protein for everyone who exercises. Your body needs these proteins to repair and build muscle mass.

To get a nice slim body, it is certainly not necessary to do strength training every day. An half an hour of strength training, three times a week is more than enough. Especially if you start weight training, the results show extremely fast. After one week you can already see and measure a difference. Your muscles need at least 24 to 48 hours rest after a strength training. It is therefore wise to exchange cardio and strength training with each other or to train different muscle groups each day. Thus, the muscles get enough time to recover.
