Gold Charts

Post by EconoD » Tue Oct 21, 2014 7:10 pm

Here's a chart from macrotrends.net that would suggest gold needs to go up to match the Fed's balance sheet, suggests a price of $1900 at least? :

Actually it's interesting to see that the fall in gold off the high is coordinated, sorry I mean coincides, with a more rapid expansion of the Fed's balance sheet. That's a strange coincidence isn't it? :?:

Anyone think that gold will catch up to the Fed balance sheet? It's taking a bit of a bashing today.

There's an interesting weekly analysis of gold and silver movements which tracks the gold and silver basis, i.e. the spread between the spot cash price and the first futures contract.

Broad picture of the gold market: I notice we're right on maybe a smidgen under the logarithmic trend line (away to compare relative moves) this is the underlying trend so if you fancied following the gold trend, looks like now is a good time to get on board. However you should do your own investigation of course and come to your own conclusions if it's worth the risk for you? If it breaks the current $1200 support we could get a run down to $1000 ish.

It always does, and overshoots it. The only question is how long and what size will the fed balance sheet be at that stage?

Gold seems to be holding the $1200 mark at the moment, let's see what happens? Fed meeting starts today I think, so when the minutes come out it might move it some?

Yeah, they announced the end of QE and it went down. It will probably see new lows for a while, until either everything blows up or they pump more money into the ponzi again to keep it from blowing up.

It's hitting new 3 year lows as I type ($1175) will this be a head fake and it spike quickly back up or a sustained fall, about to find out? It must be taking out a load of stops, hence you get the huge volume and a quick drop that seems to be the pattern at these changes? (To be honest I have no idea, ssh don't tell anyone.)

The dollar index meanwhile is soaring in the region of a 4 year high.
